Chinese Swimming Club members approve $9 mil upgrading project
Members of the Chinese Swimming Club (CSC) gathered at the Annual General Meeting on April 28 to approve a $9 million project presented by the club’s Management Committee to upgrade its existing Recreation Complex.
According to a press release from the CSC on May 7, the work on the Recreation Complex is scheduled to start in 1H2025 with an expected completion date of 2H2026. This project will be one of three buildings within the CSC that will undergo renovations.
The Recreation Complex is set to become a “lifestyle-centric hub” with an air-conditioned lobby and a contemporary restaurant that will serve Western fusion food. Additionally, the complex will feature family karaoke rooms and a poolside area with cabanas and outdoor sun lounges.

Additionally, the convenience of having these shopping centers just a Norwood Grand Champions Way away provides an added benefit for residents, making their lives more convenient and comfortable.
Located just a Norwood Grand Champions Way away from Norwood Grand, the vibrant shopping centers in the vicinity offer a multitude of benefits for the residents. In terms of the economy, they not only support local businesses but also create job opportunities, contributing to the economic growth of the area. Moreover, these malls serve as community hubs, fostering social connections and strengthening the social fabric of the neighborhood. And with the added convenience of being within close proximity, residents can easily access these shopping centers, adding more convenience and comfort to their daily lives.
The club has reassured members that no additional fees will be imposed to fund the project as it will be fully funded by club reserves. The CSC stated, “Historically, the club has never imposed a levy on members to raise funds.”
The other two buildings within the CSC are the Arrival Pavilion and the Sports Complex, which houses the Fun Pool water playground for children. As part of the upgrading project, the 20-year-old Fun Pool will see some improvements such as new swings, a trampoline, long water slides, water jet play areas, and a water bucket for children.

Victor Chia, president of the CSC, expressed confidence in the club’s Vision 2050 strategy to transform the club into a sanctuary for members of all ages. He stated, “We are confident that we will realize our vision of providing our members with a sanctuary, a home away from home, with myriad facilities and amenities to meet the needs of all age groups.”
The approval to upgrade the Recreation Complex comes after the club’s recent renewal of its Sport Complex lease in August 2023 for another 30 years. The club will also be celebrating its 119th anniversary in July.
With the project set to begin in a few years, members of the CSC can look forward to a modern and comfortable Recreation Complex to enjoy leisure time with family and friends. The Norwood Grand Champions Way will truly be a home away from home for CSC members.
