Third Popular Kiasunomics Book Touches Bto Scheme And Property Prices
On June 4, the third instalment of the beloved Kiasunomics book series was officially launched. Titled “Kiasunomics – Economic Insights for Everyday Life,” the book is co-authored by Professors Sumit Agarwal and Sing Tien Foo, and Associate Professor Ang Swee Hoon from the National University of Singapore Business School. The launch event was graced by Associate Professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Minister of State for the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of National Development.
This new addition to the Kiasunomics series, which was first published in 2017, continues to explore typical economic issues and challenges through a uniquely Singaporean perspective that is both easy to grasp and entertaining. The previous instalment was released in 2020.
In this latest book, the authors delve into interdisciplinary topics such as the relationship between climate change and property prices, the correlation between the BTO scheme and divorce rates in Singapore, the impact of living near MRT tracks, and the influence of online listing portals on the real estate market.
Associate Professor Ibrahim praises Kiasunomics as a one-of-a-kind book that truly embodies the Singaporean identity. He notes that the book features many academic research works that utilize Singapore’s data and rigorous methodologies to uncover captivating stories about the everyday lives of Singaporeans. He also highlights the book’s coverage of timely issues such as public housing, the government’s retirement support program, and the gender income gap, which shed light on critical policies and topical issues facing Singapore.
