Pan Pacific Hotels Group Takes Over Gurney Bay Hotel Bringing Portfolio Malaysia Seven Hotels
Pan Pacific Hotels Group has recently expanded its portfolio with the addition of Gurney Bay Hotel, located in Penang, Malaysia. This new property, with 368 keys, will be operated under the group’s Parkroyal brand and marks the seventh hospitality property for the group in Malaysia. The opening of Gurney Bay Hotel follows the recent launch of Parkroyal A’Famosa Melaka Resort in February.
The group will be taking over the operations of the existing Gurney Bay Hotel and will begin a phased soft renovation starting on September 1. The property is situated along Gurney Bay (formerly Gurney Drive) on the Penang coastline, offering breathtaking views of the sea and Georgetown.
Pan Pacific Hotels CEO, Choe Peng Sum, expressed excitement over the addition of Gurney Bay Hotel, stating that its location in close proximity to the Georgetown city center will complement the group’s existing Parkroyal Penang Resort in the beachfront area of Batu Ferringhi. The two hotels will also see benefits from the expansion of Penang International Airport, which is set to become Malaysia’s second-largest airport after Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
In other news, Pan Pacific Hotels Group will be opening its first hotel in Kyoto, Japan in January 2022. The new property, Pan Pacific Kyoto, will be a landmark hotel offering a luxurious and immersive experience for guests in the heart of the city. Additionally, the group has also recently launched its flagship Pan Pacific Orchard property in Singapore, as part of its global brand expansion.
