Knight Frank has recently chosen Jackie Cheung to fulfill the role of director of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) for Asia-Pacific (APAC) and Singapore. In light of this, the company has described this as a newly established position specifically for this region. Cheung previously held the position of associate director and head of ESG for Greater China at Knight Frank for a period of two years. In his new role, Cheung will be leading the company’s ESG efforts in both APAC and Singapore, providing advisory services to clients, and incorporating ESG considerations into internal decision-making processes.
Cheung is based in Singapore and reports to Tim Armstrong, global head of occupier strategy and solutions at Knight Frank, and Low Kin Hon, deputy CEO of Knight Frank Singapore. According to Armstrong, integrating ESG factors into portfolio planning is no longer an option but a crucial strategic move. Therefore, the company is committed to serving as a trusted ESG advisor for its clients. Low also added that the Singapore real estate industry is actively adopting sustainability practices and constantly innovating, making Cheung’s blend of skills and experience a valuable asset to clients in Singapore. This news follows JLL’s recent appointment of Jolyon Thomson as Executive Director of Logistics and Industrial in Singapore, further highlighting the growing importance of ESG considerations in the real estate industry in the region. In fact, Singapore has been named one of the top three sustainable cities in the world according to a study conducted by Arcadis, a leading global design and consultancy firm for natural and built assets.
